Share market finished the day on a strong note

Share market in India finished the day on a strong note on hopes of an interest rate cut ahead of RBI's monetary policy.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 199 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished higher by 60 points.

The S&P BSE Midcap and the S&P BSE Small Cap both finished up by 1.1% & 0.9% respectively.

Barring metal stocks, all sectoral indices ended the day in green. Realty sector and FMCG stocks were among the top gainers on BSE.

ACC Ltd share price and Ambuja cement share price rallied 4% & 5% respectively today as LafargeHolcim is mulling merger of the two companies.

Share Market Ended the Day on a Flat Note

Stock market in India finished the day on a flat note.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 14 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished higher by 7 points.

The S&P BSE Midcap and the S&P BSE Small Cap both finished up by 0.6% & 1.1% respectively. Sectoral indices ended the day on a mixed note. Auto stocks and FMCG stocks were among the top losers on BSE. While, healthcare sector and PSU stocks gained the most.

BSE Sensex stood higher by 85 points

Share market in India recovered in the afternoon session to finish the trading day just above the dotted line amid mixed international markets.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 85 points, while the NSE Nifty finished up by 18 points. The S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.9% respectively. Gains were largely seen in consumer durables and pharma sector.

SENSEX finishes on a strong note

Share market in India continued to rally and finished on a strong note for third consecutive session on the back of positive quarterly results and strong global markets.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 333 points, while the NSE Nifty finished up by 127 points.

The S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.9% respectively. Bank stocks gained the most, followed by consumer durables and energy stocks.

SENSEX Ends Lower

The Indian share market finished the week marginally lower.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 119 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished lower by 30 points.

The S&P BSE Midcap ended down by 0.3% while the S&P BSE Small Cap finished down by 0.4%. Sectoral indices ended the day on a negative note with only bank stocks, pharma stocks and aluminum stocks in green.

SENSEX Stood Higher by 245 Points


Indian share market continued to trade well above the dotted line in the afternoon session amid strong international markets.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 245 points, while the NSE Nifty finished up by 83 points. The S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 1.3% and 1% respectively.

Gains were largely seen in energy stocks, aluminum stocks and auto stocks.

Sensex Ends Flat

Indian share market continued to trade near the dotted line with positive bias in the afternoon session.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 48 points, while the NSE Nifty finished up by 13 points.

The S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.6% and 1% respectively. Gains were largely seen in energy stocks, FMCG stocks and PSU stocks. (See the complete list of BSE gainers today.)

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation of India (HPCL share price) finished on a strong note (up 3.4%) after it was reported that the company is planning to invest Rs 12 billion in the next three to five years in various city gas distribution (CGD) networks in order to expand network and build infrastructure.

Sensex Ends Dull on First Trading Day of 2017

Stock market in India started the new year’s trading day on a dull note. At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 31 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished lower by 6 points.

Sensex Finishes Up 155 Points

After witnessing subdued session of trades, the Indian share market finished marginally higher on selective buying amid expiry of December futures and options (F&O) contracts even as Asian cues remained mixed.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 155 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished higher by 70 points.

The S&P BSE Midcap ended up by 1.3% while the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 1.1%. Almost all sectoral indices ended the day on a positive note. Metal stocks, FMCG stocks, and energy stocks witnessed the maximum buying interest.

According to an article in Livemint, TVS Motor Co has been granted an Indian patent for automatic hybrid transmission (AHT) system for two-wheelers. Sensex Surges Over 400 Points

Stock market in India continued to witness strong buying momentum in the afternoon session on the back of value buying in blue chip companies. ITC share price and Tata Steel share price finished up by 4% and 3.2% respectively. Sentiments also remained positive amid firm European markets.

Sensex Finishes Weak

Stock market in India remained negative and headed for a weak close on fears of likely increase in long term capital gains tax.

SENSEX Finishes Flat

SENSEX Finishes Flat

Indian share market finished the volatile day on a dull note as the dollar rose sharply after the Federal Reserve's first interest rate rise this year and its hawkish rate outlook for 2017. The Fed's 25 basis points rate hike was widely anticipated by the market, but it was the projected trajectory of three rate hikes for 2017 that raised concerns.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood lower by 84 points, while the NSE Nifty finished down by 29 points. The S&P BSE Mid Cap finished flat, while the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.2%. Losses were largely seen in pharma sector and FMCG stocks.

Sensex Finishes Down 95 Points Ahead of US Fed Decision

The Indian share markets witnessed some selling pressure during the afternoon session and finished the day below the dotted line ahead of US Fed rate decision to be announced today.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 95 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished down by 39 points.

Sensex Finishes on a Flat Note

Tata Power share price finished the trading day on an optimistic note (up 2.7%) after it was reported that the company’s Strategic Engineering Division (Tata Power SED) has bagged an order from Ministry of Defence, Government of India for the supply of one regiment of Command Post and Launcher of Pinaka Multi Rocket Launcher System (MRLS) to Indian Army.

In another development, Torrent power share price surged and finished up by 4.5% on the BSE after the company entered into Renewal and Amendment Agreement to the Distribution Franchise Agreement (DFA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for distribution of power in Bhiwandi Circle for a further period of 10 years with effect from January 26, 2017.

Sensex Finishes Weak

Indian share market fell further in the afternoon session to finish the week on a weak note amid weak global indices.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood lower by 329 points, while the NSE Nifty finished down by 106 points. Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished down by 1.3% and 1.4% respectively.

According to an article in The Moneycontrol, Vedanta Resources Plc plans to invest as much as Rs 200 billion (US$ 2.9 billion) over three years to expand its alumina and aluminum producing capacity in Odisha.


Meanwhile, Vedanta group has also lined up Rs 300 billion investments to ramp up the capacity of Cairn India. Cairn India is in the process of being merged with Vedanta, for which the shareholders of both the entities have already given their nod. With this investment, the production capacity of Cairn India would go up to 3,50,000 barrel of oil equivalent per day.  

Cairn India share price finished the trading day down by 1.5% on the BSE.
