Sensex Finishes Marginally Negative; Bharti Airtel Rallies 3.5%

Indian share markets continued to trade range bound in the afternoon session amid mixed global indices. At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 70 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished lower by 17 points. The S&P BSE Midcap finished down by 0.5%, while the S&P BSE Small Cap finished down by 0.6%. Losses were largely seen in oil & gas stocks and PSU stocks.

Bharti Airtel share price finished the trading day on an encouraging note (up 3.5%) after the company dropped domestic roaming charges, matching rival Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, as chairman Sunil Mittal urged regulators to encourage consolidation.
Coal India share price finished down by 2.5% on the BSE after one of the company's fully owned subsidiaries approved a share buyback plan.
L&T share price finished the trading day up by 0.2%. According to a leading financial daily, Larsen & Toubro's (L&T) wholly owned subsidiary - L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), has signed an enterprise framework agreement (EFA) with Shell Global Solutions International B.V., for providing engineering, procurement and construction management services for Shell projects in the Middle East, South East Asia and India.
In another development, according to a leading financial daily, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) plans to buy5% more in L&T for Rs 65 billion at current market prices. The insurer, which already owns 16% of the company, has got the regulator's approval to buy the additional stake recently.
Moving on to news from stocks in metal sectorHindalco share price surged 2.1% in today's trade after it was reported that the company has received the environment clearance for setting up of a new cast copper rod plant in Gujarat's Bharuch district at a cost of Rs 2.4 billion.
Asian stock markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The Shanghai Composite gained 0.40% and the Nikkei 225 rose 0.06%. The Hang Seng lost 0.77%. European markets are lower today with shares in Germany off the most.
The rupee was trading at Rs 66.74 against the US$ in the afternoon session.

Share market in India plunged in red

Share market in India plunged in red as Reserve Bank of India did not deliver the expected 25 basis points cut in repo rate before recovering to finish flat.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood lower by 45 points, while the NSE Nifty finished flat. Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.5% and 0.2% respectively. Gains were largely seen in consumer durables and realty sector.

Meanwhile, bank stocks and FMCG stocks lead the losses.

BHEL share price surged 2.8% in today’s trade after the company posted net profit of Rs 935.4 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2016 as compared to net loss of Rs 10.84 billion for the same quarter in the previous year.

Share market finished the day on a strong note

Share market in India finished the day on a strong note on hopes of an interest rate cut ahead of RBI's monetary policy.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 199 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished higher by 60 points.

The S&P BSE Midcap and the S&P BSE Small Cap both finished up by 1.1% & 0.9% respectively.

Barring metal stocks, all sectoral indices ended the day in green. Realty sector and FMCG stocks were among the top gainers on BSE.

ACC Ltd share price and Ambuja cement share price rallied 4% & 5% respectively today as LafargeHolcim is mulling merger of the two companies.

Share Market Ended the Day on a Flat Note

Stock market in India finished the day on a flat note.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 14 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished higher by 7 points.

The S&P BSE Midcap and the S&P BSE Small Cap both finished up by 0.6% & 1.1% respectively. Sectoral indices ended the day on a mixed note. Auto stocks and FMCG stocks were among the top losers on BSE. While, healthcare sector and PSU stocks gained the most.

BSE Sensex stood higher by 85 points

Share market in India recovered in the afternoon session to finish the trading day just above the dotted line amid mixed international markets.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 85 points, while the NSE Nifty finished up by 18 points. The S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.9% respectively. Gains were largely seen in consumer durables and pharma sector.

Sensex Finishes Strong Cheering Budget Proposals

Share market in India rose after finance minister Arun Jaitley unveiled a budget with a range of incentives for companies and geared towards boosting infrastructure and developing the rural economy.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 486 points, while the NSE Nifty finished up by 155 points.

The S&P BSE Mid Cap & the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 1.7% respectively. Realty stocks gained the most, followed by auto stocks, FMCG sector and bank stocks.

Oil & Gas stocks finished strong with HPCL and Petronet LNG leading the gains.
